Jean-Hadrien Chabran cd7c003cd3 internal/lsp: add support for hovering runes
Enable to hover runes found in basic literals in various forms.
When a rune is found, the hover message provides a summary composed of a
printable version (if it exists) of the rune, its codepoint and its name.

Behaviour varies slightly depending on the basic literal: rune literals
always display the summary when hovered, string literals only display it
when an escaped rune sequence is found to avoid providing unnecessary
information, and finally number literals only when expressed as a
hexadecimal number whose size ranges from one to eight bytes.

Rob Findley 4c651fc1fc internal/lsp/source: add inferred types to generic function hover
As an experiment, this CL introduces the first gopls feature that is
specific to generics: enriching function hover information with inferred
types. This is done with no additional gating on build constraints by
using the new internal/typeparams package.

The marker tests are updated to allow tests that rely on type parameters
being enabled.

Rob Findley 8aef11fa67 internal/lsp: switch to the new command API
Fully switch to the new generated command API, and remove the old
dynamic command configuration.

This involved several steps:
+ Switch the command dispatch in internal/lsp/command.go to go through
the command package. This means that all commands must now use the new
   signature.
+ Update commandHandler to use the new command signatures.
+ Fix some errors discovered in the command interface now that we're
   actually using it.
 + Regenerate bindings.
+ Update all code lens and suggested fixes to new the new command
   constructors.
+ Generate values in the command package to hold command names and the
full set of commands, so that they may be referenced by name.
+ Update any references to command names to use the command package.
+ Delete command metadata from the source package. Rename command.go to
   fix.go.
+ Update lsp tests to execute commands directly rather than use an
internal API. This involved a bit of hackery to collect the edits.
+ Update document generation to use command metadata. Documenting the
arguments is left to a later CL.
+ Various small fixes related to the above.

This change is intended to be invisible to users. We have changed the
command signatures, but have not (previously) committed to backwards
compatibility for commands. Notably, the gopls.test and gopls.gc_details
signatures are preserved, as these are the two cases where we are aware
of LSP clients calling them directly, not from a code lens or
diagnostic.

Heschi Kreinick e7dfe0279f internal/lsp: remove redundant fields/code after source.Error deletion
Collapse Diagnostic.Kind, Source, and Category into just Source. Remove
code that converted from Diagnostic to Diagnostic. Notes on the changes
I had to make along the way:

- We used to use Kind to determine Severity. Set Severity when the
Diagnostic is created instead.
- Use constants for Source as much as possible -- we still need to use
Analyzer.Name for analysis diagnostics. It would be nice to break that
dependency so that Source was totally opaque, but that's a separate
issue.
- Introduce a new Source for gc_details, "optimizer details". It was "go
compiler" previously.
- Some of the assignments are a little arbitrary. Is inconsistent
vendoring really a "go list" error?
- GetTypeCheckDiagnostics had code to cope with diagnostics that had no
URI associated with them. We now spread such diagnostics to all files
when they are generated.
- Analyze modifies Diagnostics by adding a Tag to them. That means it
has to own them, so I had it clone them. I would like to push that logic
down to the diagnostics, per the TODO, but that's another CL.

And some observations:
- It's obviously tempting to combine DiagnosticSource and
diagnosticSource, but they mean very different things. I'm open to a
better name for one or the other.

Vscode defines types integer and uinteger (32-bit signed and unsigned),
so the Go code now uses int32 and uint32.

They've changed the use of TextDocument, so version information is sometimes
missing. cache/session.go:625 was changed correspondingly.

DidCreateFiles, DidRenameFiles, DidDeleteFiles (notifications)
ShowDocument, WillCreateFiles,WillRenameFiles, WillDeleteFiles (request)

Rebecca Stambler d78b04bdf9 gopls/doc: clean up and slightly reorganize documentation
This is a first CL to clean up the gopls documentation. The main changes
are cosmetic (to correct warnings found by the MD Lint VS Code
extension), though some parts are reworded or moved around. Ultimately,
more work needs to be done, particularly on the user guide and features
overview.

My current thinking is that we should rename settings.md to
configuration and move the configuration piece out of the user guide,
and also reorganize the user guide to be more "getting started"
oriented.

I'm still not sure where miscellaneous items should go (e.g., working on
the Go distribution itself)--I deleted the FAQ because it seemed useless
and is probably not the most discoverable, but it's the only place that
comes to mind so far.

Rebecca Stambler 008e477491 internal/lsp, gopls: recover from go-diff panics
This CL handles the panic in the sergi/go-diff library which has not
yet been resolved. We add an error return to the ComputeEdits function
and return an error if there is a panic. I'm not sure if this is the
best approach, but it does seem better than allowing the server to
crash.

A concern would be that the user wouldn't know why their code wasn't
being formatted, but hopefully they might look through the logs and
notice the error message. At least, other features would continue
working. The best fix will definitely be the fix for the panic, but that
is not yet available.

Threading through the error return was not pretty, but I thought it was
probably worth doing since it could be needed in other situations.

Rob Findley 6d2eea5430 internal/typesinternal: use Go 1.16 metadata for go/types errors
In Go 1.16 error codes as well as start and end positions are added for
go/types errors. This information is temporarily stored in unexported
fields, until we're more confident in the correctness of both the API
and the underlying data.

Read this information using reflection and, if available, use it to set
the corresponding field in compiler diagnostics. This establishes a
positive feedback loop: in most cases this should improve the gopls
diagnostic, and wherever it doesn't we can make a note and fall back on
the old heuristics for that error code.

Heschi Kreinick e8435508c6 internal/lsp: run marker tests in multi-module mode
Multi-module mode works rather differently than module mode, so ideally
we should have good test coverage for it. We can get a lot for a little
by running the marker tests as a module in a multi-module workspace. To
do that, we can move everything one directory lower, and use the
original directory as the root of the workspace.

The mechanics of setting it up are a little distasteful but not too bad.
We prepend a directory to all the paths in the packagestest.Module, and
after Export, move the created go.mod down into that directory. The only
other change is to find the golden files in the right place.

Command line tests use URIs everywhere, and it was too annoying to fix
them, so I didn't bother. Unimported completion tests fail and are
skipped for the moment.

Heschi Kreinick 6a8222ee25 gopls/doc: generate settings JSON, docs
gopls has many settings. We want to automatically generate
documentation, and we want to allow clients to perform their own
validation if they so desire.

Using all three of AST, type information, and reflection, generate a
JSON description of the settings and their default values. Add a gopls
command that prints it. Add a documentation generator that uses it to
write settings.md.

I assumed that everything not explicitly documented was experimental,
and moved it into that section. I also moved expandWorkspaceToModule to
experimental; I hope it's not long for this world, personally.

Along the way, rename many fields, make the enum matching case
insensitive, and add a stringer call so that the defaults print nicely.

To manually collect cache entries, we need to know when a snapshot is
idle. Add a reference count in the form of a WaitGroup and keep track of
its uses. The pattern is that any time a snapshot is returned, it comes
with a release function that decrements the ref count.

Almost all uses of a snapshot originate in a user-facing request,
handled in beginFileRequest. There it's mostly an exercise in passing
Snapshots around instead of Views.

In the other places I took the path of least resistance. For file
modifications I tried to minimize the amount of code that needed to deal
with snapshots. For diagnostics I just acquired the snapshot at the
diagnostics call.

Rebecca Stambler 9267083701 internal/lsp: support refactor.extract through commands
The logic for extracting a function is quite signficant, and the code
is expensive enough that we should only call it when requested by the
user. This means that we should support extracting through a command
rather than text edits in the code action.

To that end, we create a new struct for commands. Features like extract
variable and extract function can supply functions to determine if they
are relevant to the given range, and if so, to generate their text
edits. source.Analyzers now point to Commands, rather than
SuggestedFixFuncs. The "canExtractVariable" and "canExtractFunction"
functions still need improvements, but I think that can be done in a
follow-up.

Rebecca Stambler e31b568ad1 internal/lsp: plumb fillstruct through analysis
Now that fillstruct is an analyzer, we can simplify the code that calls
it in code_action.go. We introduce a new class of analyzer --
convenience analyzers, which are closer to commands. These represent
suggestions that won't necessarily improve the quality or correctness of
your code, but they offer small helper functions for the user.

This CL also combines the refactor rewrite tests with the suggested fix
tests, since they are effectively the same.

For now, we only support convenience analyzers when a code action was
requested on the same line as the fix. I'm not sure how to otherwise
handle this without bothering the user with unnecessary diagnostics.
