Bryan C. Mills 4b43d668c2 internal/testenv: avoid rebuilding all of std in WriteImportcfg
Instead, have the caller pass in an explicit list of the packages
(if any) they need.

After #47257, a builder running a test does not necessarily have the
entire standard library already cached, especially when running tests
in sharded mode. testenv.WriteImportcfg used to write an importcfg for
the entire standard library — which required rebuilding the entire
standard library — even though most tests need only a tiny subset.

This reduces the time to test internal/abi with a cold build cache on
my workstation from ~16s to ~0.05s.

It somewhat increases the time for 'go test go/internal/gcimporter'
with a cold cache, from ~43s to ~54s, presumably due to decreased
parallelism in rebuilding the standard library and increased overhead
in re-resolving the import map. However, 'go test -short' running time
remains stable (~5.5s before and after).

Fixes #58248.

Russ Cox 6bb003d032 cmd/go: do not confuse files for standard library packages
I often create dummy files holding various data named things like 'z'.
If a file (not directory) GOROOT/src/z exists, it confuses cmd/go into
thinking z is a standard library package, which breaks the test
Script/mod_vendor.

This CL fixes internal/goroot to only report that something is a standard
library package when a directory with that name exists, not just a file.

Bryan C. Mills 6a70292d1c go/internal/gcimporter: load cached export data for packages individually
Previously, we were using internal/goroot.PkgfileMap to locate
cached export data. However, PkgfileMap regenerates export data
for the entire standard library, whereas gcimporter may only need
a single package.

Under the new approach, we load the export data (still using
'go list -export') for each GOROOT package individually, avoiding work
to rebuild export data for packages that are not needed.
This is a tradeoff: if most packages in GOROOT are actually needed, we
end up making many more calls to 'go list', and may build packages
sequentially instead of in parallel (but with lower latency to start
using the export data from the earlier packages).

On my workstation, starting from a clean cache for each run,
this reduces the wall time of
'go test go/internal/gcimporter -run=TestImportedTypes'
from 22s real time (2m10s user time) to 6s real (27s user),
and only increases 'go test go/internal/gcimporter' from
28s real (2m16s user) to 30s real (2m19s user).

Michael Matloob 7ea0520234 go,cmd, internal: update to anticipate missing targets and .a files
go/build and cmd/go will stop returing Targets for stdlib .a files, and
stop producing the .a files is pkg/GOOS_GOARCH. update tests to
anticipate that and to pass in importcfgs instead of expecting the
compiler can find .a files in their old locations.

Adds code to determine locations of .a files to internal/goroot. Also
adds internal/goroot to dist's bootstrap directories and changes
internal/goroot to build with a bootstrap version of Go.

Russ Cox d922c0a8f5 all: use os/exec instead of internal/execabs
We added internal/execabs back in January 2021 in order to fix
a security problem caused by os/exec's handling of the current
directory. Now that os/exec has that code, internal/execabs is
superfluous and can be deleted.

This commit rewrites all the imports back to os/exec and
deletes internal/execabs.

For #43724.

Russ Cox f229e7031a all: go fix -fix=buildtag std cmd (except for bootstrap deps, vendor)
When these packages are released as part of Go 1.18,
Go 1.16 will no longer be supported, so we can remove
the +build tags in these files.

Ran go fix -fix=buildtag std cmd and then reverted the bootstrapDirs
as defined in src/cmd/dist/buildtool.go, which need to continue
to build with Go 1.4 for now.

Also reverted src/vendor and src/cmd/vendor, which will need
to be updated in their own repos first.

Manual changes in runtime/pprof/mprof_test.go to adjust line numbers.

For #41184.

all commands. This wrapper prevents exec.LookPath and exec.Command from

All imports of os/exec in non-test files in cmd/ are replaced with
imports of internal/execabs.

Ian Lance Taylor b83ef36d6a go/build: move isStandardPackage to new internal/goroot package
The module code in cmd/go sometimes needs to know whether it is
looking at a standard package, and currently uses gc-specific code for
that. This CL moves the existing isStandardPackage code in the
go/build package, which works for both gc and gccgo, into a new
internal/goroot package so that cmd/go can call it. The changes to
cmd/go will be in a subsequent CL.
